In the year 2166 of the Eastern Glory Calendar, members of the S.R.D 6th division were ordered to test a prototype weapon. During the test, they accidentally encountered an unknown life form “The Core” from a seafloor fissure. “The Core” attacked the S.R.D members and, since ordinary weapons could not cause damage to “The Core”, the S.R.D escort members suffered heavy casualties.
Under the cover of fire from the remaining three S.R.D members, Yuna repelled “The Core” with the prototype weapon they came to test. In order to prevent “The Core” from attacking again, S.R.D and Soryu Industries have stepped up the development of an arsenal of new era weapons.
